This morning, explore the restored historic centre of Beirut and visit the National Museum before heading into the beautiful Shuf region. Visit the 19th century Beiteddine Palace and the town of Deir el Qamar, home of the governors of Lebanon between the 16th and 18th centuries.
The beautiful Jeita Grotto is believed to contain the world’s largest collection of stalagmites and stalactites. After visiting the caves, travel to the ancient town of Byblos, continuously occupied for at least 7000 years and home to Phoenician temples, a Crusader castle, medieval souks
A full day tour from Byblos takes you first to the pretty fishing village of Batroun, where there is time to wander the atmospheric cobbled streets of the souk. Next visit the imposing castle of Moussalyha before continuing to Tripoli to explore the souk and the citadel of Raymond de Saint-Gilles.
Today head into the Mount Lebanon range to see the famous cedars. Also visit the museum dedicated to Khalil Gibran, author of ‘The Prophet’, and the Monastery of Qozhaya. Located in the beautiful Qadisha Valley.
Leaving Byblos today you will travel to the most famous archaeological site in Lebanon – the incredibly well-preserved Roman city of Baalbek in the Bekaa Valley. After exploring the site, stop at the ruined Umayyad city of Anjar, before sampling the wines from Chateau Ksara. Return to Beirut.
Today travel south of Beirut to Sidon, was once a Phoenician stronghold. Visit its impressive Crusader sea fort and walk through the medieval old town before heading to Tyre. The Roman hippodrome is on the World Heritage list, and the nearby Phoenician temple dedicated to the god Echmoun is large and remarkably well-preserved. Return to Beirut.
