Arrive Bishkek - City Tour
Dominated by the snow-capped Kyrgyz Altau mountains today you will have a chance to discover this fascinating city visiting the state museum, monument to the national hero Manas and the sights, sounds and smells of the oriental Osh Bazaar.
Ala Archa National Park Excursion
Today travel to the stunning Ala Archa National Park stopping at the mausoleum of Kyrgyz hero Baytik Baatyr enroute. In the park there will be an opportunity for a walk through the beautiful gorge of the Ala Archa River before later returning to Bishkek
Bishkek – Talas
Travel to the town of Talas crossing the Tuy Ashuu Pass, which offers great views of the beautiful Susamyr Valley. In the valley the nomadic families and try their fresh yoghurt as well as kumis, a drink made from fermented mare’s milk. Tonight you will stay in a local family home in Talas.
Manas village and Besh Tash National Park
This morning the monument, museum and mausoleum of Manas, the national hero before exploring Besh Tash National Park which is known for its biodiversity, with over 800 plant species, and for the mammals such as snow leopards, lynx, deer and ermine.
Talas town - Taraz town
Today drive to the border with Kazakhstan, stopping first at the site of the 8th century battle of Talas, in which Arab caliphs defeated the Tang Dynasty in a campaign to take control of Central Asia. After crossing the border, drive to the town of Taraz and spend the afternoon exploring this ancient city.
Taraz – Aksu Djabagly Natural Park
Today first of all visit the ancient mausoleum in Aisha Bibi which is widely celebrated as a monument to love and fidelity. Afterwards continue to Aksu Djabagly Reserve in the western Tien Shan, a rich and diverse arm of the Himalaya with climates ranging from subtropical to alpine and over 3000 species of flora and fauna.
Aksu Djabagly – Sairam - Otrar – Turkestan
Today drive to Turkistan stopping first at the village of Sairam to discover its ancient mausoleums. Continue to the ruins of Otrar, a ghost town along the Silk Road which once held a key position connecting Kazakhstan with China, Europe and the Middle East.
Turkestan city tour - Night train to Almaty
Today visit the Mausoleum of Khodzha Akhmed Yassawi whose tomb is a pilgrimage site for Kazakh Muslims. Also visit his underground mosque and hammam (steam bath), as well as the State History Museum. Later board an overnight train to Almaty.
The train arrives in Almaty this afternoon, and from the station you will drive to the famous skating rink in the Medeo Valley. Nearby, a high dam protects the valley, and Almaty itself, from devastating mudslides, and a walk to the top of the dam offers incredible views of the Tien Shan Mountains.
Almaty Sightseeing tour
On today’s sightseeing tour of the former Kazakh capital, discover the colourful Zenkov Cathedral in Panfilov Park as well as the city’s many monuments and museums, as well as the lively food market of Zelyony Bazaar and the central mosque
Early in the morning you will be transferred to the airport to catch your flight back home.
